Privacy Policy
This site is a personal blog. It doesn't have accounts, it doesn't sell anything directly, and it collects as little as it can get away with.
What I don't collect
Ao Teahouse has no login, no newsletter sign-up form, and no comment section. I do not ask for or store your name, address, or payment details. Nothing on this site is sold or rented to anyone.
Analytics
I use a web analytics service to see which pages people read and roughly where visitors come from. This records things like the page visited, the referring site, approximate country, and general device type. I use this to decide what to write next — not to identify individuals, which the data doesn't allow anyway.
Cookies
Two kinds of cookies may be set while you're here:
- Analytics cookies, if the analytics service uses them, to avoid counting the same visit twice.
- Affiliate cookies, set by a retailer when you follow an affiliate link from this site. These let the retailer know the visit came from here, so a commission can be attributed. They're set by the retailer, not by me, and they're governed by that retailer's own privacy policy.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site works fine without them.
Links to other sites
Guides here link out to shops, makers, and other websites. Once you follow a link you're on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, and I have no control over what they do.
Messages you send me
If you message me — on Instagram, or by email if you have the address — I keep the message so I can reply and refer back to it later. I don't add you to any list. Messages sent through Instagram are also held by Instagram under their own privacy policy, which I have no control over.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data relates to you, and to ask for it to be deleted. Given how little this site stores, that's usually a short conversation — but ask and I'll answer.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page.
